What's wrong with "mind hacking"? :)

There’s no such thing as a free lunch. As appealing as it sounds, but the very principle of "hack" opposes what we try to achieve here, nullifying results of our "mindful" efforts. Do we really have the time to waste?
What's wrong with "mind hacking"? :)

It would do us all good to understand our humble position here. We have already been “hacked”. Now we act as toxic people, often without noticing it. The “hacker” is still there, remember? So any further “hacking” (as in “giving less for getting more”) is keeping and firming up the very principles that got us here.

Any meaningful results?

Let’s look deeper at the inconspicuous populism of ‘mind-hacking’. If someone tries to buy us with an offer to hack something, use sheer power of neuroplasticity, secularized mindfulness, meditation or exotic rituals to find the back door, — remember who listens. 😊 And check actual results afterward. How much of our emotional regulation, resilience, sustained happiness are still there when we face a stressful situation?

How functional are our newly acquired habits, Emotional Intelligence or “spirituality”? Did the “hack” actually fix things so they work outside of retreat or cozy sofa? Or are we still fooling ourselves, settling at temporary calming down after we escape the stressor, divert our attention or temporarily suppress symptoms?

Not that there is a problem with instruments (neuroplasticity, mindfulness, meditation, etc.). But a “10,000 hours rule” still applies. Along with a holistic, well-understood and continuously verified personal effectiveness. Otherwise, entertaining as it is, it is a mere imitation of activity that inevitably follows “tips”, “hacks” and exotic ways into stress relief, superpowers or “enlightenment”.

Mind tech and biochemical hacks

Even the most advanced technology would still be limited by our actual motivation for using it. One cannot interfere with an unknown eco-system (as our consciousness still is) lead by the implicit motivation that strengthens its egocentric principles and expects the state of mind outcomes of a lessened ego. 😊 Hence, invasive hacks and their short term “positive” outcomes normally hide long-term undesired consequences. Any silver bullet aimed to force-take us into compassionate, all-powerful consciousness and happiness is doomed. 😊
